Halo finds new cultural expressions at Berwaldhallen
On September 26th, the prestigious concert hall Berwaldhallen in Stockholm, Sweden will host a concert displaying a unique merge of art forms, when game culture meets ballet, rock n´roll and a symphonic orchestra. The performance is inspired by the Halo-trilogy, a pop cultural phenomenon unrivalled in the world of gaming.
Members of the Swedish Radio Symphony Orchestra will perform Martin O´Donnells and Michael Salvatoris celebrated Halo music, as interpreted by the composer Ingvar Karkoff, together with renowned Finnish guitarist Jani Liimatainen.
The Backyard Babies, one of Scandinavia’s premier rock bands, will play their own Halo-inspired music. The group “Stockholm 59° North”, dancers from the Royal Swedish Ballet, will perform a choreographic interpretation of Halo and advanced motion capture technique, performed by VJ Satrio, will be used to let characters in the Halo trilogy, participate in the dance. The ballet will be accompanied by music by DJ Måns, featuring samples from Halo.
Daniel Espinosa, director of the immensely popular Swedish feature film “The Babylon disease”, contributes with Halo machinima film, based on graphics from the game. Machinima is a fast growing genre among aspiring film makers around the world. Espinosa is the first established director to produce machinima.
Orvar Säfström, TV-host, film expert/cineast and avid gamer, will host the event.
